Volunteering

  • Arrival Times:

    • Weekdays: coordinate with the Garden Manager

    • Hours of Operation: 9am-3pm (weekdays only)

  • Shift Length:
    Most volunteers stay 2–4 hours. Shorter shifts are welcome.

  • Clothing:
    Long pants, closed-toe shoes, shirt with sleeves
    Optional: hat, gloves, sunscreen

  • Phone Use:
    Phones are okay for photos or quick messages.
    Please avoid using them during active tasks.

  • Paperwork:
    Bring any forms you need signed.
    Volunteers under 18 require parent/guardian permission.

What you can help with

⚠️ Compliance: All tasks follow SNHD, Nevada, and federal guidelines where applicable. A signed waiver and brief orientation are required before volunteering.

  • 🌱 Gardening / Raised Beds – Planting, watering, weeding, harvesting

  • 💧 Hydroponics – Checking water and nutrients (training provided)

  • 🏠 Greenhouse Assistance – Plant care and environmental checks

  • 🍳 Kitchen Prep – Simple prep and cleaning; gloves and hair tied back

  • 🎉 Event Setup / Cleanup – Tables, chairs, decorations

  • 📦 Pantry Support – Sorting, stocking, organizing

  • 👩‍🏫 Workshop Assistance – Helping with demos or community programs

 

 

Training is provided for all tasks; volunteers can choose based on interest and ability.

Safety & Weather

  • Shade and water breaks during hot weather

  • Outdoor work pauses during rain or storms

  • First aid supplies available

  • Light or seated tasks available for anyone who needs them

Farm Rules

  • Follow staff instructions

  • Respect plants, tools, and other volunteers

  • Keep phones away during active tasks

  • Signed waiver required before volunteering
